Since this website was set up the number of 'hail and ride' journeys and days the C41 bus, now operated by Cresta Coaches, runs between Basingstoke and Alresford, has gradually been reduced to two; Wednesday and Friday. See timetable.
Once walkers reach the Itchen Valley, bus service No.67 currently runs through Itchen Abbas from Alresford to Winchester.
Hampshire County Council publish an excellent map of bus routes with good connections to Reading - with the Three Castles Path indicated.
The Three Castles Path has especially good rail connections to start and to finish at Winchester with intermediate stations at Ascot and Winchfield (almost half way) that all offer frequent services to London and the south-east.
